A software package for beginners and experts looking to test their wireless network security, Xiaopan OS is a combination of advanced tools for penetrating security. It was created in 2011 by Djyuzi to replace the outdated and no longer developed Beini build. It is completely free to use, compatible with Windows, and provides incredible support to all users worldwide as well as maintaining an active forum community where even the rarest of questions can be answered. Comprised of Reaver, Inflator, Aircrack-ng, FeedingBottle, Minidwep, and Xfe, Xiaopan OS is a complete package that truly puts your wireless security to the test.

Reaver is the newest application to the OS and is used to implement a brute force attack on WPS registrar PINs to try and gain the WPA/WPA2 passwords. In testing, the passwords can be obtained within 4 – 10 hours. If it takes less time to crack your password, you should definitely create a new one that is stronger.

Inflator is the graphical user interface (GUI) for Reaver.

Aircrack-ng is the true support piece of this entire OS. By utilizing an FMS attach combined with KoreK and PTW attacks, it collects data packets and, once enough are collected, is able to recover WEP and WPA-PSK keys. In comparison to other, similar programs, this is one of the fastest available.

FeedingBottle, like Inflator is to Reaver, is merely the GUI for Aircrack-ng.

Minidwep is a GUI that comes with the added benefit of being able to run both Reaver and Aircrack-ng.

Xfe is a file manager similar to Windows Explorer but more compact to take up a far smaller portion of resources on your machine.

Definitely sporting a learning curve, Xiaopan OS is a great way to truly put your wireless network security to the test while simultaneously learning about how dangerous entities can gain access to your personal information. It is downloaded as an ISO and must be either burned to a disk or accessed through a virtual drive (Daemon Tools is a good example). Unlike similar packages, Xiaopan does not require any knowledge of Linux, making it the best package for beginners. If you are looking for ways to upgrade your security or have always been interested in understanding how network security truly works, this OS is the answer. Complete with GUIs for all of the main programs, even the most novice can find their way around it.
